Nina Smidth-Brewer

I am driven by my curiosity about the voice and how it can be used to create stories. I work as a freelance singer with a primary focus on new music because I enjoy unraveling and discovering new ways to use my voice.

About Nina Smidth-Brewer:

Nina Smidth-Brewer studied opera with Brian Staufenbiel, Nicole Paiement and Patrice Maginnis at the University of California, Santa Cruz from 2007-2012. After receiving her Bachelors degree in Music, Nina moved to Denmark to further pursue vocal performance at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen, where she received her Masters degree in 2016. In 2022, under the guidance of opera singer Henriette Bonde-Hansen, Nina completed her studies in the soloist program at Syddansk Musikkonservatorium in Odense with her performance, “Women in Space and Time”.

Nina is involved in a broad scope of music projects, ranging from her work singing in churches, chamber music ensembles, crossover projects, performance art, music drama, opera, Lieder, Artsong and as assistant in professional choral groups such as Danmarks Radio Koncertkor and Danmarks Radio Vokalensemblet. Informed by a classical vocal technique, Nina enjoys working in traditional settings for classical music as well as experimenting with sound and performance. Nina is always open to new collaborations and projects!
